@X083@X05.@X0841 @X03 LEAD AZIDE
@X08Lead Azide is a material that is often used as a booster charge for
other explosive@X05,@X08 but it does well enough on its own as a fairly sensitive
explosive@X05.@X08 It does not detonate too easily by percussion or impact@X05,@X08 but it
is easily detonated by heat from an igniter wire@X05,@X08 or a blasting cap@X05.@X08 It is
simple to produce@X05,@X08 assuming that the necessary chemicals can be procured@X05.@X08
By dissolving sodium azide and lead acetate in water in separate
beakers@X05,@X08 the two materials are put into an aqueous state@X05.@X08 Mix the two beakers
together@X05,@X08 and apply a gentle heat@X05.@X08 Add an excess of the lead acetate
solution@X05,@X08 until no reaction occurs@X05,@X08 and the precipitate on the bottom of the
beaker stops forming@X05.@X08 Filter off the solution@X05,@X08 and wash the precipitate in
hot water@X05.@X08 The precipitate is lead azide@X05,@X08 and it must be stored wet for safety@X05.@X08
If lead acetate cannot be found@X05,@X08 simply acquire acetic acid@X05,@X08 and put
lead metal in it@X05.@X08 Black powder bullets work well for this purpose@X05.@X08
